I should say that this is Calypso music, the first and foremost music out of the Caribbean and in particular out of Trinidad but played throughout the West Indies.

This is old time calypso music, the first and foremost music that later evolved into mento, ska and later raggae music. Period! Their is no way around this truth. It's fact! Beautiful music.

Every time I hear Mento I see me mumma a dance and sing old time 🇯🇲 folk songs. A Mento play at mi grannie funeral love it. Reggae developed from Mento.
